Study Methods
TutorShip
TutorShip is the Institute's own distance learning programme. It is specifically designed for those sitting the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers’ professional qualifying exams and diplomas. TutorShip courses are written by leading practitioners in their field and updated annually. All tutors worldwide are approved by the Institute's head office and are specialists in their respective field.
Once enrolled in TutorShip, you will receive the latest coursebook and workbook. You will be allocated a personal tutor to answer your questions and guide you through your studies. A mock exam and assignments related to each chapter of the coursebook can be submitted to the relevant tutor for marking and feedback.

Classroom Training
Classroom training is considered the most effective form of learning. Although it requires an investment of time and effort, the rewards are significant. It gives learners the opportunity to interact with a tutor and discuss ideas and problems with their peers and colleagues.
Classroom training session consists of five meetings for regular class discussions plus one meeting for prep class. Once enrolled, you will receive the latest course book and workbook. Classes are usually held in the evening after office hours during weekdays and in the morning during a weekend (Saturday).

Self-study
Students can opt to study on their own using the Institute's books. The books are an essential resource for exam preparation as they have been developed specifically for each subject area.
The books are unique in that they have been written by professionals for professionals in the shipping industry.
You can purchase books online via the shipbrokers' website or by submitting the book order form to the local branch.
Online Academy*
ICS Online Academy offers courses in support of students preparing to undertake the Institute examinations and get qualified with a Diploma or the Institute's Professional Qualifying Examinations (PQEs) leading to membership.

Registration is open for ICS Online Academy online courses in preparation for May 2023 examinations. The courses include great extra learning materials, access to topical webinars, an individual feedback service on assignments and mock exams and most importantly, online classes delivered live starting early in January 2023 with a fortnightly schedule.
